Final Reflection: Composing GRITT Hi everyone! Welcome back to my blog. I know it has been a while since my last post but I'm here to tell you about my experience in English 100 class. I will also attach a Reflective Writing and Genres in Academic Writing: Reflection just for your reference to see what I had to do to write this last and final blog post.
In this English 100 class, I had the opportunity to explore writing in a way I never knew I had. When it came to my memoir, I felt like that was my best writing piece that I have ever wrote. I also got the chance to write some incredible blogs that I felt help me improve my writing skills. When talking about GRITT your talking about the English 100 class that I am in. The G in GRITT stands for Genre. Genre awareness basically is everything we have done so far in our English 100 class from our memoir to our research paper. I felt as though when it came to my memoir paper it was the hardest. I knew what I want to write, but I did not know how to put it in format let alone MLA format. I then put my writing skills together and came up with a good memoir for my website. The next letter in GRITT represents the R, which stands for rhetorical awareness. Rhetorical awareness is understanding that successfully writing depends on your ability address the needs of your audience. I gave my audience the really life experience when I wrote my memoir. I believe it made them feel my pain and also be able to relive the memoir I wrote about. I in GRITT stands for identity. Identity is yourself as the author. When I wrote my memoir and research paper I try to make sure I was the author telling the story. It was kind of difficult when it came to my memoir because it was a little hard to talk about. My memoir was a dark place in my life that I had to encounter but I did the best I could. The first T in GRITT stands for theory of writing. My theory of writing is to take 3 to 5 minutes a day and just free write. Write about anything that is on your mind and do not stop writing until the minutes are up. Remember to write from within in my opinion and to become a good write you first have to write. The last T in GRITT stands for transfer writing to a future writing session. I know I will take what I have learn and transfer it to a future writing session I will have later in life. I will also take the knowledge and tools I've learned with me. These tools will better help me to bring out the amazing writer I know I have deep down inside of me. This course has gave me that and so much more. I am going to miss ever aspect about English 100 from the laughter to the blog posting and more. I will mostly miss the times I was able to write, and be myself or the fact that this class brought out the writing in me I never thought I had. Thanks for everything Professor Mangini.
